The Glitch Mob, Future Rock

Duke Shin

Like a four-headed hip-hop hydra, California’s Glitch Mob has risen to the top of their scene, with Ooah, Boreta, edIT and Kraddy starting with typically blunted West Coast beats that get turned on their ear with electro/glitch wobbles and pitch-shifting madness. Active on the remix front as well, their distinctive touch can be heard on Boreta’s remix of Jamie Lidell’s “A Little Bit of Feel Good” and the Mob’s remix of Nalepa’s “Monday.” Tonight’s rare Chicago show features Boreta and head mobster Ooah (easily the most prolific of the bunch) playing the most fitting venue for the Wicker Park Fest’s after-party, the Double Door. Experience these drum-machine-rocking wizards as they perform live, along with local openers Future Rock performing a special live P.A. (The entire band plays its standard acoustic/electronic fusion at the Fest as well.)

The Glitch Mob and Future Rock at Double Door, 1572 North Milwaukee, (773)489-3160, on July 26 at 9pm. $16. (2008-07-22)
