![]() Tip of the Week The Second City That Never Sleeps
For the sixth year in a row, The Second City e.t.c. stage hosts "The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa," a twenty-four-hour benefit that provides holiday gifts for children in need. The event, which begins at 7pm on Tuesday and ends at 7pm on Wednesday, features improv (duh) in both long and short formats, plus a handful of special guests, musical and otherwise, throughout the evening. This year includes appearances by Sally Timms and Jon Langford, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Will Oldham (awesome!), country man Robbie Fulks and engineer extraordinaire Steve Albini. Plus, a performance by Kim and Kelley Deal of The Breeders, which, personally, the mere announcement of nearly made my head explode. Tickets are only ten bucks, and it’s for a good cause, so get out there, even if you can’t stay the whole time. And for those long-haulers—pillows and blankets are encouraged.
"The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa" begins December 4 at 7pm and continues through December 5 until 7pm at The Second City e.t.c., 1608 North Wells. $10.
