Ed Banger and Throne of Blood Present…

Hilary Rawk

French DJ and producer Pedro Winter (aka Busy P) has earned his name over the years as he adds more and more successful projects to his list. At the moment, he keeps busy as manager and permanent opening DJ for Daft Punk, owner of Ed Banger Records (Uffie, Mr. Oizo) and owner of Headbangers Entertainment. Winter has been to Chicago a few times. He says he came to the Windy "with Daft Punk back in 1998 when [they] shot the video for "Burnin'" in which [they] invited Paul Johnson, DJ Sneak, Roy Davis JR, and the rest of the Chicago godfathers. [He] came back with Cassius early 2000, and [he] was in Chicago in April with Justice to rock Smart Bar." He says he is looking forward to this tour with Daft Punk and especially "After parties... cause after the party, there is the after party." The party he is playing at Green Dolphin on Friday features a few of his labelmates and friends. Winter says, "[He] likes to DJ with family. [He] prefers to DJ like a rock band instead of minimal DJs who don't look at the crowd and spin boring music. [He] play[s] for the people with the people!" Winter has played all over the world, and he has showcased his remixing skills on tracks by artists like Kraftwerk, DJ Hell and Fancy. His DJ sets feature high-energy, fresh and innovative electro and house and include songs like Chromeo’s "Fancy Footwork," White Stripes’ "Icky Thumb" and Justin Timberlake’s "Lovestoned." At his Chicago show, he says we can expect to hear "lots of fresh French stuff, lots of distorted modern funk and, of course, lots of club banger classics. Just be prepared to sweat, bleed and cry!"

Busy P joins fellow Ed Banger DJs Kavinsky & Sebastian, along with the Rapture (DJ Set) and James F!@#$^ Friedman of Throne of Blood, plus DJ Funk, Gildas, Jordan Z and more at Green Dolphin, 2200 N. Ashland, on August 3, 10pm-4am. $15 or free with rsvp to going.com (2007-07-31)
