Tip of the Week
Mazi & David Duriez

Duke Shin

After being cornered by your shin-kicking nephews and gravy-dribbling (fill-in-the blank) in-laws, you might need a proper night out on the town. Try hitting up the Body Parts party at Spy Bar, featuring a tag-team set from no other than Brique Rougue boss David Duriez and hometown tech-bleep wizard Mazi. Parisian Duriez has been cranking out releases since 1994, and has laid his rhythmic-yet-trippy touch on remixes for the likes of Moby, Paul Johnson and Random Factor. As for his collaborator Mazi (the duo are celebrating the release of their single "Chicago, A Wake Up Call"), the man behind Audio Soul Project has a penchant for balancing genre-straddling tracks on the deep, techy and twisted tip, usually with devastating results. Combining these two global heavyweights behind the decks promises an extrasensory holiday journey over the river of ear-tingling melodies and through the woods of dark hallucinatory vocals, to something other than grandma's house for sure. And like that lovable drunk uncle, dotbleeper Justin Long will also be on hand to drop his signature doses of dancefloor gravy.

Electronic Dreaming
With a love for electro/acid bangers and robot-party grooves, Christophe "Daze" Dasen, aka Plastique De Rêve, has put out solid releases for labels like Turbo and Gigolo Records. A skilled producer, DJ, remixer and sound artist, Dasen took some time out to chat briefly with us about his upcoming Chicago dates and remix project for Chicago's very own Future Forward

Couples Club
For all the dystopian retro-cacophony and ironi-gloom lyrics offered up in their music, the husband-wife team of Adam Lee Miller and Nicola Kuperus seem extraordinarily affable and good-humored when discussing their upcoming mini-tour and recording sessions for their follow-up to 2005's "Gimme Trouble"

Spin Control
Speaking from his Williamsburg, Brooklyn home, blogstraordinaire Blair Carswell chuckles as he explains his nom de deejay, Robot Blair. "If anything, I'm more like one of those sorta robots that... you know, like a Halloween kid's robot [costume] that's made out of cardboard and tin foil, or something"

Kieren Hebdan is one of those rare artists whose music seems to be partitioned into its own category by record-shop owners, critics and fans alike
