![]() Tip of the Week Chicago International Film Festival
The forty-second edition of the Chicago International Film Festival
continues this week at River East, Landmark Century and other locations,
drawing from thirty countries and probably just as many festivals
earlier in the year--Berlin, Rotterdam, Cannes, Venice, Toronto,
Telluride, with just a splash of Sundance. With a selection of 112
features and documentaries, the range is daunting, but with lots of good
stuff. Friday's attractions include Apichatpong Weerasethakul's latest
puzzle, "Syndromes and a Century," as well as Turkish great Nuri Bilge
Ceylan's romantic drama, "Climates," and Jeff Lipsky's
misery-of-relationships "Flannel Pajamas." John Cameron Mitchell's
exuberant, sexually explicit musical roundelay "Shortbus" plays River
East, as does "The Aura," the second feature of the late director of
"Four Queens." The Chicago International Film Festival continues through October 19.
