Tip of the Week
Printers' Ball

Tom Lynch

Along with Poetry magazine, MAKE magazine and THE2NDHAND, Newcity presents the second annual Printers' Ball, where the world of Chicago print publications, book publishing and literary organizations unite for one night of celebration and offer loads of free materials. Participants include Another Chicago Magazine, Bridge Magazine, Columbia Poetry Review, The Chicago Reader, The Guild Complex, Lumpen, Stop Smiling, TriQuarterly and many, many more ambassadors of Chicago lit. Local popsters Baby Teeth and honky-tonk band the True Historians provide the live audio, as well as DJ sets by representatives of Punk Planet and Venus. Come early for the words, stay late for the songs--Printer's Ball is an all-night affair that marries the members of the essential Chicago literary scene. Words will always bring us together.

Printers' Ball takes place July 20 at Double Door, 1572 North Milwaukee, (773)489-3160, at 8pm. Free.
