Printers Row Book Fair
Highlights of this year's fest

Staying true to form, the annual Printers Row Book Fair hits Dearborn once again and sports a stellar lineup that features dozens and dozens of author readings, panel discussions and performances over the two-day span from a variety of both local and national writers and poets. Better yet, each event is free. Check www.printersrowbookfair.org for the complete schedule, but here are some highlights.

Saturday

The fest kicks off at 10am with author E.L. Doctorow at the Harold Washington Library Center Stage...poet Kevin Coval headlines a slam poet showcase at 10:30am on the Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Stage...Bookslut Jessa Crispin leads a panel titled "Visual Tales: The Graphic Novel" at 11am in the Harold Washington Library Center Multi-Purpose Room...also at 11am, authors Charles N. Billington, Bernard A. Weisburger and Kevin Kaduk discuss their books on the Cubs at Grace Place, moderated by Newcity's Tom Lynch...at noon on the Nelson Algren Stage Dave Eggers and the 826CHI students read from their work...poet Simone Muench reads at noon on the Gwendolyn Brooks Poetry Stage...Studs Terkel chats up Elizabeth Taylor and Rick Kogan at the Harold Washington Library Center Auditorium at noon...Augusten Burroughs discusses "Possible Side Effects" at the Heartland Stage at 2:30pm...James McManus and Kevin Guifoile discuss their work at Grace Place at 2:30pm...Luis Alberto Urrea talks "The Hummingbird's Daughter" at the University Center Lake Room at 3pm...and Scott Turow discusses his work at the Harold Washington Library Center Multi-Purpose Room at 3:30pm.

Sunday

Elizabeth Taylor discusses "The Art of the Review" with David L. Ulin, David Kipend and Donna Seaman at 10:30am in the University Center River Room, while Jonathan Gross follows at 11:30am to talk about "Thomas Jefferson's Scrapbooks"...Author Michael Connelly discusses his work at the Heartland Stage at 1pm...Rosellen Brown and other discuss "City" at the HWLC Multi-Purpose Room at 2pm...Sam Weller talks up William Bernhardt and J.A. Konrath at 2:30pm in the University Center River Room...Elizabeth Berg discusses her work at 2:30pm at the Heartland Stage...Joe Meno does "Short and Sweet" at the University Center River Room at 3:30pm...Mary Dempsey talks to the great John Updike at 3:30pm at the HWLC Auditorium...and artist Tony Fitzpatrick discusses "The Wonder: Portraits of a Remembered City" at 4pm at the Nelson Algren Stage.
