Two of the literary world's heavyweights--and one Chicago can claim as
its own--hit the Abbey Pub stage together as part of Nextbook's growing
and impressive reading series. Hemon's "The Story of Bruno" and
"Nowhere Man" made him one of Chicago's most prominent writers in
recent years, while Lethem's beautiful thriller "Motherless Brooklyn"
and last year's collection of essays "The Disappointment Artist" mark
him as one of the best of his generation. Tonight they read and discuss
the works of Bernard Malamud, an author whose importance, though once
neglected, only grows with time. Aleksander Hemon and Jonathan Lethem read Malamud February 20 at
Abbey Pub, 3420 West Grace, (773)478-4408, at 7pm.
