Tip of the Week
Shout Out Louds

Tom Lynch

Finally! A headlining tour! The Swedish indie-pop quintet released its debut, "Howl Howl Gaff Gaff" some months ago and followed it up with consistent touring in support of other bands, but now it finally comes through Chicago with the set-length it deserves to showcase the band's pure-pop hybrid of sixties garage rock and Cars-like bubblegum. This week's announcement that Matt Sharp's The Rentals will release a new record in the near future should ignite the steadfast crew that loved "Pinkerton" and hates new Weezer and totally crushed on That Dog's "Totally Crushed Out," and with Shout Out Louds' foot in the door, it seems the nerdish pop rock of old might have some new legs. Fingers crossed, please.

The Shout Out Louds! play November 9 at the Double Door, 1572 North Milwaukee, (773)489-3160.
