Margaret Cho has been notorious. She's been a revolutionary. Now she's
going to be an assassin, coming to Chicago to slay audiences with her
razor-sharp humor. The fiery Korean-American
comedian/feminist/self-proclaimed "fag hag" will bring her fifth
national tour, "The Assassin," to the Chicago Theatre March 11.
"Assassin," Cho says, is an updated version of last year's overtly
political show, "State of Emergency," which blazed through the swing
states, infused with current events. From her home in Los Angeles,
surprisingly soft-spoken Cho explains the inspiration behind the tour.
"[It's] making fun of this idea of what is a very serious political
atmosphere and just kinda trying to shoot down all these ideas that are
really negative and these fears we have about the world," she says. Margaret Cho performs at the Chicago Theatre, 175 North State,
(312)462-6300, on March 11 at 8pm. Bruce Daniels, known as the "main
fag behind American's number one hag," opens.
