Tip of the Week
Deep Dish

Al de Leon

When you think about what you're thankful for this Thanksgiving, add the folks at Sound-Bar to your list because on Friday they've lined up a special treat--a five-hour set by Deep Dish. Arguably the most-sought-after remixers by electronic and mainstream artists alike, Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi have been tearing up dance floors from San Francisco to Ibiza for more than ten years. But forget the accolades--the Grammy Award for best remix, the DanceStar Award for best US DJs, the top rankings in DJ magazine--the best thing about Deep Dish is that it's maintained its underground credibility with the dance-music scene while successfully crossing over into the mainstream and collaborating with the likes of Madonna, P. Diddy, and Dido. More importantly, after releasing a slew of high-profile remixes and chart-topping productions, Deep Dish has stayed true to its signature sound--twisting dark progressive house with funkier house grooves, tribal elements, and, just to keep you off guard, a clever a capella here and there from a classic pop song. With an artist album due out in March that will feature "Flashdance," the recent club favorite with the rockin' guitar riff, Deep Dish is at the top of its game right now.

Deep Dish spin at Sound-Bar, 226 West Ontario, (312)787-4480, on November 26.
