![]() Tip of the Week Site Unseen
In "Site Unseen," a one-night-only exhibit at the Chicago Cultural
Center, curator Julie Laffin, known for her gigantic dress performances,
has assembled artists for a bonanza of site-specific installation and
performances. Work has been integrated into the Cultural Center's
hallways, street entrances, elevator and even the industrial kitchen
behind Preston Bradley Hall. Chicagoan M.W. Burns will use public
address in his Randolph Street entrance sound installation to interact
with passersby. Aimee Bradley will question audience members about
Western authors and post responses on handmade paper and as audio
recordings throughout Preston Bradley Hall--all while she plays violin.
Visitors who present a valid state ID will be lent an iPod to experience
Adam Smith and Rob Cohn's "Hallwatchers (Headphones Tour)," a piece
that involves live theatrical performances and prerecorded audio. Tours
of the exhibition will be given every half hour starting at 6pm and
ending at 8:30pm. "Site Unseen" shows at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 East
Washington Street, (312)744-1424. November 17, 6-9pm.
