![]() DVD Tip of the Week Intermission
A punchy "foreign" film that has the makings to become a bigger hit on
DVD than at the box office, "Intermission" is a fast-paced farce about
the stakes of taking your true love for granted. In selecting this
intricately woven Irish comedy about fifty-four characers with
intersecting lives as the Film Tip of the Week upon its theatrical
release, Ray Pride described it as "profane, genially absurd, often
hilarious, beautifully observed and acted by the likes of Colin Farrell
as a shiftless thug with peculiar fixations and Colm Meaney as a
blustering cop who wants to be a reality television star." More like
Colin Feral, as the astonishing opening scene quickly dispels any
heartthrob afflictions. This low-budget DVD release of a low-budget
movie offers the absolute minimum of extra features (trailer, two short
deleted scenes), but that English subtitling comes in handy when the
brogues get a little thick. "Intermission" is released on DVD on Tuesday, October 19.
