Just as Jack Ryan melts away under the public spotlight of the sexually
damned, former boss Bill Clinton has resurfaced with a tell-all,
900-page autobiography, titled "My Life," which has sparked a
promising amount of controversy since its release last week. Even The
New York Times printed dual reviews, where Michiko Kakutani called it
"sloppy, self-indulgent and often eye-crossingly dull" and Larry
McMurtry insisted it's "the richest American presidential
autobiography" and that "no other book tells us as vividly or fully
what it is like to be President of the United States for eight years."
In reference to the most popular intern in presidential history, Clinton
admits he cheated "because I could," which led Lewinsky to tell the
British press that the book made her feel "like an insignificant piece
of dirt." The Barbara's appearance is part of an ultra-extensive
signing tour, which includes stops at media outlets and various
bookstores, both independent and nationwide. Let's party like it's
1999. Bill Clinton signs copies of "My Life" on July 1 at Barbara's
Bookstore, 1218 South Halsted, (312)413-2665, at 1pm.
