Columbia College has put together a mammoth week of readings and panel
discussions, featuring some serious literary all-stars. The fest kicks
off Thursday with a discussion with John McNally ("The Book of Ralph")
and Colson Whitehead ("The Colossus of New York"). On Saturday,
Chicago author Audrey Niffenegger reads from "The Time Traveler's
Wife," her time-travelling love story Amazon.com named the best book of
2003. On Wednesday, Elizabeth Crane ("When The Messenger Is Hot"),
"Nowhere Man" scribe Alexandar Hemon, and Columbia's Shawn Shiflett
("Hidden Place") take on the Metro for a night of readings. And, next
Saturday, to close the festival with style, the award-winning author of
the celebrated short-story collection "Birds of America," Lorrie
Moore, shares the stage with Jane Hamilton ("Map of the World") for a
Q &A with the audience. Columbia College's Story Week Festival begins Thursday, March 18, and
runs through Friday, March 27. Check our listings for more information.
