![]() Tip of the Week I Capture the Castle
When will the coming-of-age film come of age? Can't we all just grow
up? Not as long as there are small, sweet stories like "I Capture the
Castle," based on an apparently beloved 1948 English novel I'd never
heard of. While it sounds in summary like another dreary story of an
eccentric family, "I Capture the Castle" shines in large part because
of the richness of the portrayal of its narrator and central character,
the smart yet insecure 17-year-old Cassandra (a radiant Romola Garai)
who struggles to make sense of her novelist father's hopes, her
family's friction and a budding romance. There are lovely, sweet
surprises throughout. With Bill Nighy, Henry Thomas, Marc Blucas, Rose
Byrne. "I Capture the Castle" is now playing.
