James Fotopoulos: Short Films (1999-2001)

Ray Pride

Ultra-prolific Chicago filmmaker Fotopoulos recently had a retrospective of his work at Anthology Film Archives in New York, a set of screenings at the Rotterdam Film Festival, and his feature work will soon be on video from Facets. In the meantime, a survey of his strange and deeply idiosyncratic work in the short form on 16mm: "The Circle 1"; "The Circle 2"; "Consumed 1-5"; "Insect"; "The Vanished"; "The Sun"; "Escape"; "Drowning"; "Breathe"; "Two Cats"; "A Room" and "Growth." Program 86m20s. Fotopoulos will appear.

James Fotopoulos' short films play May 31, 7pm and 9:15pm at Chicago Filmmakers, 5243 North Clark, 2nd floor.
